Tiroler Landesmuseum

The museum displays archaeological objects from the Stone Age to the Early Middle Ages, Roman and Gothic masterpieces, a major Dutch collection, exhibits from the Baroque and 19th century, precious instruments, the Biedermeier collection and the Modern Gallery.

Once the weapon depot of Emperor Maximilian I, today the Zeughaus is a museum of Tyrol‘s cultural history with prehistoric findings, evidence of silver mining and salt extraction, Peter Anich’s globes, objects from the beginning of tourism and both World Wars.

The museum in the former Franciscan monastery is one of the finest of its kind in Europe. The diverse exhibition sections include cribs, costumes, the “Studiensammlung” (Collection of Studies), parlours and the newly presented topics "Year Full to Bursting" and "Perilous Life".

Tirol Panorama, Bergisel 1-2

Visitors are sent in search of the “Myth of Tyrol”. The Riesenrundgemälde (giant panoramic painting) depicts the Tyrolean struggle for freedom over an area of almost 1,000 m². In the exhibition area, “Schauplatz Tirol” (Showcase Tyrol) presents Tyrol in a sometimes surprising light. The building is connected to the Kaiserjägermuseum, where Tyrolean military history from 18th until 20th century is documented.

From ore to bell - a combination of bell foundry, bell museum and sound room. A visit to the 400-year-old Grassmayr Bell Foundry in Innsbruck provides a rare insight into this ancient craft. Guided tours: special tour through the bell foundry and bell museum on 07/14/21 Dec. 2011 at 3 pm.

 

Igls Art – Art Exhibitions

Exhibition of various works of art by all artists and art traders from Igls including goldsmiths, gilders, jewellery designers, painters, carvers, hand weaving etc. Exhibitions in the “Haus des Gastes” (Igls Tourist Office – 1st floor). Open day in the various establishments (arts/crafts) in Igls.
